Returning to Pyestock is always a pleasure. I have mentioned before, my extensive and numerous trips, here is another!
Built in 1957 and decommissioned circa 2002, Cells 1 & 2 are by no means the earliest test areas on site. The Plant House, for one example, predates Cells 1 & 2 by at least 6 years.
The cells were used for both altitude and general running tests on both turbine and ramjet engines. Cell 1 was mainly used for free jet testing of Ramjets and altitude tests. Other information about this building seems vague, and I seem to have misplaces Ian McKenzies invaluable book, "Pyestock: from RAE to QuinteQ" I will update with a proper history/info section as and when I can...

Old Pyestock. Classic Pyestock. Perhaps, for some people, boring Pyestock.
Not for me though. I love this place...
Hopefully, the first of many posts from here, as I go back and re-shoot the place, with newfound skill and friends. This was my first explore, a good few years ago. A tough one to top. That said, many of my early shots lack something fairly important... Composition. Too many close ups of detail; too little site overview; to heavily edited...
